Continuous Improvement Project Leader

This position serves as the Continuous Improvement (CI) change agent to ensure CI cultural strategies are deployed. Additionally, this position is responsible for incorporating Operating Systems, Business Systems & Lean principles/practices in the plant process; implementing and facilitating improvement actions related to people development, quality, profitability, productivity, inventory, downtime, and staffing requirements. 

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates focused, basic improvement efforts under peer or manager supervision to drive continuous improvement efforts at sites / functional departments with clear schedule of next steps and deliverables.   
  • Utilize Operating System tools (KPI’s, Problem Solving tools, Action Trackers, etc.) and apply behaviors to consistently meet commitments.
  • Coordinate efforts on projects / assignments with awareness of budget and milestone goals.  Able to identify problems impacting project goals and propose solutions for customer / sponsor evaluation.
  • Effectively communicate project results and needs appropriately to direct leadership, both written and verbal.  Receive feedback and change course when necessary to drive optimal results. 

Education and experience required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business
  • Experience leading and facilitating workshops/improvement activities in a manufacturing environment

Knowledge, skills and abilities required:

  • Effective communicator (written and verbal)
  • Planning and organizing skills
  • Ability to build strong relationships with frontline managers and employees
  • Ability to simultaneously handle multiple CI projects in different stages
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high energy environment

Education and experience preferred:

  • Engineering degree (preferably in industrial engineering from an ABET accredited program)
  • Master's Degree 
  • Lean Certification
  • Experience teaching CI programs and methodologies (Lean, Lean Six Sigma, etc. )
  • MES and manufacturing digitization experience
  • Proficiency with SAP, Excel and Power BI
