SYSTEMS ANALYST

The IT Systems Analyst role is accountable for supporting the use of technology in the delivery of enterprise business processes. Qualified candidates will have a deep understanding of a collection of business processes and the technologies used to deliver them. He/she will serve the organization as a subject matter expert on software solutions, and act as a point of contact for related questions and escalated items. When all these tasks are performed well, users of company technology solutions will be effective and efficient in delivering value to the enterprise.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

 Degree from four-year college or university preferred; or minimum of five years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 Prefer candidates with experience working for companies in distribution and/or discrete manufacturing industries.

 Experience with one or more of the following platforms highly desirable:

o   ERP applications – either “green screen” application or cloud implementations

o   CRM applications – particularly cloud implementations

o   Business Process Automation and Workflow solutions – particularly Microsoft 365 / Power applications

o   SQL database applications and programming

 

ESSENTIAL TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Learning processes, uncovering areas for improvement, and developing and implementing technology solutions in business areas such as sales, supply chain, finance, and other areas relevant to a company in the distribution industry.

Understanding both the business needs and technologies available and looking for opportunities to improve the user experience of users and partners.

Becoming an expert in how data is managed for specific business processes in order to understand the workflow for current and future projects.

Performing requirements analysis and build BRD’s (Business Requirement Documents) to capture the needs of a business area and their desire to grow/improve/mature.

Staying up to date on IT advancements to automate and modernize business processes and their associated technologies.

Conducting meetings and presentations to share ideas and findings.

Documenting and communicating the results of your efforts.

Effectively communicating your insights and plans to cross-functional team members and management.

Gathering critical information from meetings with various stakeholders and producing useful reports.

Working closely with clients, developers, engineers, and management.

Ensuring solutions meet business needs and requirements.

Performing functional, unit, and/or user acceptance testing of application enhancements.

Updating, implementing, and maintaining technical documentation related to the use of technology for specific business processes.

Serving as a liaison between business areas and IT.

Reviewing new or modified applications, including documentation, diagrams, and flow charts to determine if program will perform according to specifications and conform to standards.

Identifying differences between established standards and user applications and suggesting modifications to conform to standards.

Continuously learning business and department processes in relation to software usage

Assisting and training business users on existing and/or new functionality for all internal software applications.

Developing test plans specific for applications and integrations.

Setting up tests, at the request of end users, to locate and correct application operating errors following installation of program.

Monitoring application performance after implementation to prevent re-occurrence of program operating problems and ensure efficiency of operation.

Providing support and escalating open incidents as required.

Willing to travel to other offices, both domestic and international, as needed for special projects. For International travel must have the appropriate documentation/passport.

TECHNICAL & MANAGERIAL COMPETENCIES:

The ability to influence stakeholders and work closely with them to determine acceptable solutions.

Experience in different Testing methodologies such as: Functional testing, Regression testing, Integration testing, and User Acceptance testing (UAT).

Understanding of web services, APIs, and integration/testing considerations with web applications

Advanced PC skills, as well as being proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of applications.

Strong problem solving and troubleshooting practices.

Ability to recognize a problem or potential problem and react quickly and effectively.

Ability to effectively communicate, present information, and respond to questions from other employees.
